I love this! I may do this with Kinders! We just did a painting with Kandinsky's circles after reading "The Dot". I could show them how to make "dots" using paper! Cool!
The display is awesome....did the kids find it hard to glue the cylinders down? Or did they get impatient about holding the cylinders as they dried? I would love to try this lesson :)
I have them for 30 minute blocks. In 30 minutes we were able to look at the artwork, talk about 3-D, and then I did my demo. They used GLUE STICK for the loops and pinched them for 10 seconds- they had to count. They did 5 that day. (quick kids did some more) Then I brought around plates with elmers glue that they dunked in and then put in place on their square and held in place for 5 seconds. *Construction paper is more difficult to keep stuck in a loop. The scraps I had saved from watercolor and rubbing papers that I cut down were easier to use since it was thinner drawing paper.
Oh I didn't mention we did this two days in a row. The second day we did it again (but also did borders first), I reviewed the steps, the kids aimed to do 5 or more loops again. They were pros at it the second day.
I am sooooo excited to try this with my kiddos! We have an art show at the end of the month and we've scrappe3d everything in the plans and have done nothing but focus on Kandinsky and they couldn't be more happy!
These make a really cool display!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks super-cool! I think I may "pin" it!!
